go power portable solar system

The Go Power portable solar system provides an easy way to charge your RV batteries with clean, renewable power. Using the 200-watt foldable solar panel, this system collects solar energy to create DC power that passes through a solar charge controller into your RV batteries. The kit includes several adapters to suit your charging application. Also, it comes in a heavy-duty, nylon carrying case for convenient transport and storage.

If you occasionally dry camp with your RV, this kit is a perfect solution for charging batteries while you're away from shore power. And since the system is portable and flexible, you can choose where to place the panel and charge other batteries using solar power as well. It's also a great complement to your rooftop RV solar panels, providing an extra boost of charge when you need it.

High-Efficiency, Monocrystalline Solar Panel

go power portable solar kit folded

The charging process starts with the solar panel, which unfolds and uses adjustable legs for support. When solar energy interacts with the silicon cells in the panel, it generates a flow of DC electrical current that charges your RV's batteries. Each of the monocrystalline cells is made from a single crystal of silicon, so the electrons that create the current have more space to move, making this panel more efficient than one with polycrystalline cells. And in optimal sunlight conditions, the panel produces 200 watts per hour.

solar panel side view

The silicon cells are set between a cushioned backing material and tempered solar glass to withstand the elements. The glass has low-iron content to provide exceptional transparency, which ensures maximum sunlight collection. Finally, the panel is framed with anodized marine-grade aluminum to resist rust and corrosion.

Smart Solar Controller Charges and Protects Battery Bank

go power solar charge controller

The solar controller prevents harmful overcharging by adjusting the power generated by the solar panel before it reaches your batteries. It uses pulse width modulation technology to regulate the output through pulses that provide a consistent charge. Typically, this type of technology is a good fit for smaller systems with lower voltages.

Using a multistage charging system, the controller automatically switches voltages while the battery bank charges. This accelerates the charge, but also helps extend battery life by adjusting the voltage during the different modes. The controller is compatible with multiple battery types and includes preset charging profiles for sealed/gel, AGM, flooded/wet cell, and lithium batteries.

Charging Modes

  1. Bulk: This mode charges at the full rated load for a quicker recharge time. As the name suggests, this is where the bulk of the charging happens. It typically charges the battery to at least 80% capacity.
  2. Absorption: This mode provides controlled voltage to ensure a full charge. Once the battery reaches between 80% to 90% capacity, the absorption state will kick in and start charging at a regulated voltage. In each charging profile, this mode is set to last for 30 minutes after the bulk charge is completed.
  3. Float: Once the battery reaches full charge, this mode maintains a lower voltage to compensate for self-discharge. This reduces battery stress and minimizes gassing and water loss.
  4. Equalization: On flooded/wet cell batteries, this mode activates to prevent stratification and sulfate buildup during extended float cycles. These two issues can damage a battery by causing the accumulation of acid at the bottom of the battery and hardened sulfate crystals on the battery plates. This mode is especially helpful when your battery is going unused during storage.

The backlit, digital display acts as an information center for your solar panel output. It shows the charging current, battery voltage, and battery state of charge. It also allows you to input your battery type and choose a charging profile. Additionally, a built-in USB port on the front of the controller provides a convenient outlet to charge your cell phone or tablet.

Lastly, the controller includes several built-in safety features to help protect your equipment. The charging process will shut down if the controller starts to overheat and when an overcurrent is detected. Also, if the battery or solar panel is wired incorrectly, it activates a reverse polarity alarm.

Easy-to-Use Adapters for Battery Connection

xlr style plugsae solar plugbattery clampsbattery terminals7-pin

This kit includes several adapters to suit different applications. It comes with XLR-style and SAE solar plugs, which work with RVs that are pre-wired for solar, including Zamp solar ports. For traditional battery connections, it has battery clamps and battery terminals. Additionally, a 7-pin trailer adapter (sold separately) provides another connection to your 5th wheel or camper. Each adapter has an Anderson connector which plugs into the portable solar panel.

Heavy-Duty, Nylon Carrying Case

go power solar charge controller

The durable, nylon carrying case has a rigid exterior and soft interior to help protect your panel during storage and transport.

Available Extension Cable

If you need more distance between your battery connection and the panel, the extension cable (sold separately) provides 30' of additional length.

Arrived promptly. This is my 2nd Go Power solar panel. The 1st several years ago is 120W and too slow charging my 2 new VMax 100Ah AGM batteries. Now I also have a Jackery 2000W power station and the new 200W panel would be better.
etrailer has always delivered quickly.

The 200W go power solar panel is a huge improvement over the 120W. When dry camping I’m quickly charging the two VMax 100Ah batteries and I also charge the 2000W jackery, which allows microwave use since it converts to ac power. In the Great Smoky mountains there’s much rain so some days I can’t charge with solar panel this is where the Jackery comes in. I connect a smart car battery charger into the jackery and charge any 12 v battery. Good set up. The 200w go power is much heavier but manageable.

@Andrew Awesome! We'd love to see pics of your dry camping setup if you have some.

This product has worked extremely well, as advertised, for me on several road trips where commercial power was not available, and generator use not allowed. I would recommend this product to anyone; easy setup and take-down, storage can be an issue due to its size, but very workable.

by:

Weeeeeelllll....

Both the latches
that keep thing thing closed when not in use were broken outta the box and the box itself looked like it suffered some solid hits in shipping. The panel itself seems intact and the latches are not critical to operation so I'll just fix them myself, but all in all, I was a little under impressed. Do ya really want photos?

by:

No shipping damages. Connection to my RV and power-up went smoothly. Initial impression is very positive.

by:

Keeps the batteries fully charged in the coldest weather while I’m out having fun

by:

Very happy with this sole panel

by:

Purchasing this was very streamline /easy to do. Customer service representative Alex J. was very helpful. I’d sent him a couple of pictures of the plug set up on my RV and he was able to confirm that this item would fit and work on my RV. It arrived fast and undamaged. This is my first solar panel kit and it’s kinda heavy & appears very sturdy. Haven’t tried it yet on my rv but will do asap. I’ll be using this item to recharge my RV’s 2 batteries.

Have not used it. I haven’t really had any reason yet.

before I ordered this solar kit for my RV , I had done extensive research on solar systems and Go Power was my choice far above other systems. When It arrived it performed exactly how I expected.
Customer service from E trailer and Go Power was excellent as well.

great!

I would love to give the Solar Kit 5 stars. Functionally is worked great right out of the box. The unit is solid if not a bit heavy as has been noted in other reviews. Not going to blow away in the wind as lighter panels might. Output in full sunlight was excellent. The legs are solid and very adjustable as to angle for best exposure. The various attachment cables cover most every application. I added a 30 foot extension cable which allows placement in the sun while parking the camper in the shade. My only complaint is that the controller is not 'water proof'. It is permanently attached to one of the panels. The suggestion that you move or take down the panel system if it looks like rain is ridiculous given the frequency and unpredictable nature of afternoon T-storms. Talked to Go Power tech support who suggested just covering the controller with plastic which is what I will end up doing. Still, for $[XX]+ for the kit, one would think they could provide a factory solution. That said, I am otherwise extremely happy with the solar panel kit and would recommend it for those who want to stay off the grid a bit longer.

by:

Ordered in the pro power 200 solar panel and when it arrived the two latches which holds it together was damaged and 1 was missing. I contacted etrailer twice via email and no response. Just asking for the new latches and I will install. Panels seem to be working fine at this point.

Sorry to hear about your broken latch. It usually takes 24-48 hours for customer service to get back to emails. I see here, that they are working with you now.

by:

Feel like I wasted 1600.00 on 2 solar panels, a 200amp hour lithium battery, and a controller. Those two panels will not keep the battery charged to run only the fridge.

by:

We are happy with the item. It arrived as promised and in perfect condition.

by:

Got this portable solar panel for camping use. Instead of having my batteries drained for using small electrical items, this saved our batteries. We would put it on the roof of the camper to get most of the sunlight and its not in our way.

by:

It is kind of heave for people pushing 80 and beyond but it works well.

by:

I received the 200 W Portable Solar Panel today. The order came in on time and in fine condition. Very easy to set up, even without any instructions. I am now charging my travel trailer batteries as I write this review. Seems all is well.

by:

Slight damage to box in transit ( fairly heavy) but upon inspection everything was good inside. Found 3 rivets had fallen out from various hindges. Used short, stubby screws to fix. Panels worked great with 14.3 volts and 6 amps right off the bat. Thank you etrailer for getting the panels across country in time for our trip. Going to be dry camping 7 days and didn't want to run generator

by:

I have used the solar panels many times know. They are fantastic
I have had full power every time and the customer service is great as well

by:

Appears to be well built and a good package of optional cords, etc. Capacity is trade off with size/ weight with solar so research what you need and don’t get more than you need if convenience is big concern.

by:

Powerful and effective. I was surprised how quickly the solar panels 'charge'. All necessary connections were available and hooking up the panels to my RV was seamless and easy.

by:

I felt your response to the problems with the 200 Watt solar panel was excellent. You were prompt and immediately helped solve the problem. I highly recommend etrailer.com

by:

Very happy purchase. Had reservations about the connections, but just be careful and so far so good.

by:

We have used this for a year and it has kept our batteries charged. Usually we need to buy new batteries every year or 2 - not now!! We are sssooooo pleased with this product.

by:

What a wonderful experience etrailer gave us. Spent lots of time investigating, got the answers, ordered the panels on Friday and BOOM, panels arrived Wednesday. Couldn't be happier with the speed and efficiency of etrailer

by:

Built very strong (heavy) will be using this Spring.

by:

Exactly what I ordered, great price and quick shipping!
Thanks and will be doing business again with etrailer!
